  • Defective picture retake: The entire package must be returned to school October 23th, and handed to the photographer at the time of photo retake.
  • Missed picture day and need to order pictures: Need to complete a picture packet and include a check made payable to Lifetouch. These items must be presented to the photographer at the time the picture is taken.
  • Missed picture day but you do not wish to purchase pictures: Please have your student get their picture taken so that they will be included in the class composite. No form is needed.

Early Morning Band
5th Grade Early Band Practice to Begin October 20th
Early morning band will be starting on October 20th. All band students will have early band practice on Mondays and Thursdays from October 20th until the end of the school year. Please make the proper arrangements to drop your student off at Westwood Elementary beginning at 7:00 AM those days. Please do not drop your student off before 7:00 AM as there is no supervision and school doors will be locked. Students should be dropped off at the front entrance. Students will enter through the designated entrance and then proceed safely and quietly to the band room. Students should be in their seats, ready to play their instrument at 7:10. Students must have their instrument, three ring binders, books and all other appropriate band supplies for early band. Students in safety patrol will be able to attend early morning band. Those students will work with their classroom teachers to cover safety patrol shifts. If you have any questions please contact rachel.urban@ankenyschools.org.

At Westwood Elementary, we welcome visitors to our classrooms.  We ask that visits are pre-arranged and be limited to 30 minutes in length in order to minimize interruptions to instructional time.  If you plan to visit, please let your child's teacher know in advance.

We encourage parents to wait a couple of weeks after the beginning of school in the fall before visiting so that our staff and students can settle into expectations, routines, etc.

Please bring your drivers license with you when visiting the building as we will be running a sex offender check on all visitors before they are let into the building.

Please note that a volunteer packet must be filled out yearly if you plan on volunteering at Westwood (including visiting class parties or going on field trips).  The background check portion is good for 5 years, however, the contact information needs to be filled out yearly.  If you have any questions please call the Westwood office or email Nicole.aplin@ankenyschools.org.
